You may be as surprised and delighted as we were to hear that Kito hoists are being used in a popular zoo. Here’s some of what we saw there.
Each Asian elephant eats 150 kilograms of feed daily, including fresh leaves, hay, pelleted supplements and carrots. To prevent overeating and keep them healthy, the feed containers are placed so that the elephant has to stretch its trunk far out and take longer to eat, as in its natural habitat.
At 3:30 in the afternoon the hungry giraffes return to the stable together. Acacia, pelleted supplements and hay are ready. The staff say they use Kito hoists to adjust the height of each feed container to the individual giraffe. Sometimes the animals appear to even play with the hoists, making us smile.
